Le Mague becomes bilingual French/English: our media outlet opens up to the international community

🌍 READ THIS ARTICLE IN ENGLISH →

After more than twenty years in existence, Le Mague continues to evolve, question itself, test new ideas, and above all, look further ahead. Now, some of our content is available in English, with the gradual ambition of making the site a more open, more international, and more accessible media outlet for readers who, until now, simply couldn’t read us.

This English version is obviously not yet fully developed. It will evolve in the coming weeks and months. The translation of articles will improve, as will the user interface; some sections will be adapted, new features will appear, and we will gradually refine how the two versions of the site will coexist.
But the essential thing is already there: Le Mague is starting to speak beyond the Francophone borders.

This evolution will also transform the way we work. Until now, our focus has naturally been on French or Francophone culture, artists, media, and personalities. We will now broaden our scope much more systematically.

Le Mague will notably give greater prominence to English-speaking artists, creators, filmmakers, writers, photographers, musicians, intellectuals, and personalities. And above all, we will seek to increase the number of interviews with international figures, with this very simple idea: to facilitate the exchange of voices, works, and ideas in both directions.
The goal is not to artificially become an international media outlet by simply changing the language of a few pages. Rather, it is about preserving what has defined our identity since 2003, curiosity, freedom of expression, attention to unique journeys, culture, images and voices that are sometimes too rarely heard, while expanding our playing field.

We want someone in London, New York, Los Angeles, Dublin, Montreal, Sydney, or elsewhere to be able to discover a French artist on Le Mague tomorrow. And conversely, we want our French-speaking readers to be able to encounter, through our pages, creators and personalities from other cultures.
This internationalization won’t happen overnight. It will be built article by article, meeting by meeting, interview by interview. We will certainly experiment, correct, and improve things along the way. That’s also what an independent media outlet is about: being able to experiment, evolve, and sometimes take paths we hadn’t imagined a few months earlier.
We are therefore quite happy, and even a little proud, to see this second language appear on Le Mague today.
After more than twenty-three years in existence, the site has definitely not chosen to become wise.
He prefers to continue opening doors.
And now, some of these doors open onto the world.
